My mind is flying everywhere before my body takes the morning flight!
For me, the weekend began early again with a spontaneously organised dinner at Nobu's with Don Juan. I managed to get there almost ten minutes too early! Too early because arriving on time is a goal I intend to reach every meeting; however, hopelessly, it fails, but for some reason, the excitement of our fun rendezvous, mixed with the cab driver arriving far too early, resulted in that way. My host was a few minutes late, thinking he would have to wait anyway. The waiter came to my rescue with a glass of rosé Rhuinart before Don Juan showed up smiling while standing like a tower of gorgeousness above me. There was a hell of a lot of catching up to be done.
Then came Friday, when seventy friends turned up for a more fun night at the Beaufort House's private rooms. I was exhausted, although there was no preparation except for the list of guests changing hourly on the day. Double the number of attendees confirmed yes, but only half managed to turn up. The reason for calling the event the Love Party was not because it was my birthday, as some guests had assumed, nor was there a particular reason for it, but feeling the 'Love'. As I was being asked constantly what a love party is, my answer was: "Well, it sure isn't an orgy!" Terrible, I know. Haha
At the entrance, there was one table of twenty for those not part of our group. It was quite a surprise to see the birthday boy there. It happened to be someone I had met a while back; the smiley face of Wills! He caught me later on the stairs and said hello. I must admit, Wills did look rather dashing as he got older.
What more can I say about the party, except it was a room filled with every face I loved and the DJ played great music, which even Kelly, who is not a House music fan, enjoyed. Kim had made a giant tiramisu to start celebrations for Sis Hala's birthday, which is due a few days later. I just wished there was more energy in me to get a chance to chit-chat with everyone present, but hey, if everything in life was perfect, how boring would our lives be? One does one's best.
This will finally be the 'short' blog I had promised myself to write one day!
I spent the rest of the weekend at home, except for the superb raclette Charlotte and Nicolas treated us to at their home for an early dinner Saturday; Sunday was spent recovering from the bad cold I sometimes caught at my party. Going to get a couple of hours of sleep before heading to Heathrow Airport again for another big adventure with Hala. I will be back at the end of February, and my next blog will be at the beginning of March. Taking time off from the computer.
As Mark Twain pointed out, 'If you don't read the newspaper, you are uninformed; if you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed'.
Hence, I travel to get correctly informed.
Where is the next destination, you may ask... Peru! Yay.
